My Hero!

...and he lives in a pineapple under the sea... so i guess i killed two birds with one cuddly sponge stone. Spongebob is the best...He truly is my hero. I wanted to draw an all out battle between all the 80's sea cartoons but i just threw in a Snork for fun. Good times.

Blood Maiden

She knew they would come, she couldn't explain it but she just knew. Even though her parents told her they were safe in their home in the mountains, she knew it was only a matter of time before they would find her family. Milena felt a bead of sweat trickle down her neck. The hot July sun couldn't reach her beneath the shelter of the ancient maple where she crouched, but the mid-summer heat was enough to make anyone sweat. That wasn't the reason she was sweating though.

As she scoured the county-side from her favorite vantage point, something caught her eye. It was hard to make out anything in the distance with the heat, but she thought it resembled the glint of metal in the sun. She squinted her eyes trying to catch another glimpse, but the ripples of heat dancing off the valley below concealed all but the hazy shapes of trees that dotted the landscape. She relaxed a little, maybe it was just a mirage. Suddenly, she saw something moving. There it was again. This time there was no doubt in her mind: they had come at last. Even though she always told herself they would come, she was never really prepared for the icy dread that came with them. She knew what they did to those in their path. Suddenly she was racing down the familiar footpath as fast as her legs would carry her. The familiar, comforting woodland sounds she grew up with only seemed to mock her as she raced by.

Something changed in her the day Milena saw her parents and younger brother massacred by the invading barbarian hordes. As the brutes held her down to have their way with her, something hidden deep within broke free. Her world went black and when she awoke, the remains of her captives coated the small cabin room. It has been 11 years since that fateful day, though the lands still suffer from the dark rule of the hordes. Milena still hunts the heart of the plague that brought death to her and countless others. She is known and feared by her foes as The Blood Maiden.

Fisher Man

This hero was inspired by Ariel. After looking at his piece, I decided it was time Viet Nam had a hero!

Fisher Man was born Toby Booi during the Depression and grew up a frail youth in a poor family in Viet Nam. His father died when he was a child, his mother when he was in his late teens. Horrified by newsreel footage of the Communist in N. Vietnam, Booi was inspired to become a fisherman. However, because of his frailty and sickness, he was rejected. Overhearing the boy's earnest plea to be accepted, a captain of a rich fishing boat offered Booi the opportunity to take part in a special experiment called Operation: Rebooi. Toby Booi agreed and was taken to a secret laboratory in Saigon; where he was introduced to Dr. Han Some, the creator to the Super-Fisherman formula.

With this formula, he caught a huge ass fish. He knocks people out with the fish. He is the greatest fisherman alive...the Fisher Man!

Damn. I need a job...

Beware the Rusalka

My addition to an underwater creature.



In Slavic mythology, a rusalka is a female ghost that dwells in a waterway. Upon seeing a handsome man, they will fascinate them with song and dance, mesmerising them, then lead the person away to the river floor to live with them. (Wikipedia)

My idea for a superhero... Black Ops, "Tech"-type hero. Has gone rogue, underground. Crippled character, inventer/engineer... Harness developed initially soley as a means of transport. Was betrayed by the agency he was working for. His mission to bring it down...

El Misterioso

This is my hero, El Misterioso. He lives in the Eastern coast of Mexico and he comes out at night to fight the baddies. He carries an old naval mine he found washed up that doesn't work and uses that as a mace type weapon.

Underwater Creature 04

Welcome! exercise 01...

This is the first exercises that we are posting. There are two to work from. Please feel free to participate and do either or both. These first exercises will last two weeks starting today, June 1st. At the end of the two weeks, we'll have another pair to work on. If you are interested in participating or have any ideas for future exercises, just contact us. Have a fun, stress-free time with these guys:

1) Design an Underwater Creature(s). The creature can be real or imaginary.
2) Create a Super Hero. Just make sure it's an original creation.

For these exercises, you can do them in any style realistic or cartoony, just have fun with them. Take it to whatever finish state you'd like over the two weeks. The development process is up to you. Remember: Have fun!

Underwater Creature 02- Jaime

Here is my second underwater creature. It took a bit longer than I had planned but I had a great time painting it. The deadline I had for myself was by tonight and I am happy with the end result. I am going to try and do two more underwater creatures and then move on to super heroes.

Starting the Sea Creature process. Again, just exploring before I decide on my direction. Same with this 2nd pass at the heroes. Though, they do look kinda villainous 'cause of the shapes. Eh, no one is 100% good... Just developing further.

Sea Creature

Hey Guys, hopefully everyone is having a great summer so far. Ok... since I already have some creatures in my portfolio that looks like a lizard creature I'm going to try and do the superhero. BUT, like Jaime, I tried doing a piece within a certain time limit so I gave myself 2 hrs on this piece. Any critiques on this creature would be awesome. If you guys feel like I could bring this to a finish or more development I could continue working on it. Or any changes to make it stronger would great. Tell me what you guys think.

Super Hero Ideations -- nelly

My initial ideations for a possible hero. I like a couple of the ideas, not sure which one I will take to finish right now. This has been a fun process. Despite being a HUGE comic-book super hero fan, never really done this before. Looking forward to the end results.
