MOKELE MBEMBE and a MERMAID

Mokele Mbembe is an African dinosaur/pachyderm/whatever; this is a work-in-progress, so any criticism is welcome.

Mermaids are actually just manatees, so I thought I'd draw a mermaid with a little meat on 'er. Her name is Debbie Dugong.

It's about time somebody dispelled the Ariel-sized mermaid myth! I like that somebody besides me knows random mermaid-trivia too, like how sailors originally mistook manatees for beautiful fish-women. I will never quite understand that one.......

Sailors, my dear Lauren, are some of the nuttiest nutjobs ever put on God's green earth (...or, uh, God's blue sea).

haha. Debbie Dugong is the perfect name for her for some reason. Maybe Dugong is a good last name for a lardo mermaid, sounds fatty.

personally, i love manatees...they're sooo much cuter that just plain ole fishes. i really like the top sketch, i like how you chose to make it monochromatic.
