I like that you really nailed the expression on this with a limited amount of lines and graphic shapes. You also did something really interesting here by showing depth through texture. I like the pallet too.

I'm sorry but, You give Shepard Ferry to much credit. He didn't invent the vector portrait he just re-popularized it.
